Hi! My name is Maggie, I have been raising rabbits for about six years now. I am a member of the ARBA and my local 4-H
club, Twitch 'N Time. My mom works with me, driving me to shows and supporting my hobby. In my backyard we
have created a little rabbit haven, one of my favorite places to be!
It all started when my good friend Kristina of White Rose Rabbitry introduced me to her new and first bunny Angel. She
was a new member of Twitch 'N Time! I had been saving up for a rabbit in my piggy bank for years, I counted my money and found
I had enough to buy a setup in the back yard for a bunny of my own. I didn't know it, but one of my classmates (and now my
best friend) Shelby was also a member of Twitch 'N Time. I was ready to join their club, now all I needed was a bunny! My
mom took me to the feed store (not where I would reccomend getting a show bunny) and I instantly fell in love with a black
Mini Rex doe I named Pepper! She was beautiful to me and still is!
I was interested in breeding her, that's when I met Amanda of Tons of Buns Rabbitry at one of the local shows. Lucky
for me and my friends we live right next to the fairgrounds where a number of shows take place both open and 4-H along
with the fair. At the shows I learned about showing rabbits and what to look for in a Mini Rex. I got hooked. I ended up breeding
Pepper and buying some new stock from Amanda. 4-H was going really well too, my friend Brittany from my old soccer team was
into the Mini Rex breed as well and we spent a lot of time together.
My rabbitry is always improving and changing. This summer we got electricity in the rabbitry! The biggest change
happened when Pepper's baby and the two animals I bought from Amanda, Intrepid a Opal doe and BANGL a excellent blue buck
were killed by two loose dogs. That was a heartbreak. We built a chain link fence around my rabbitry that summer to prevent
this from happening again. That fence is still there, now with a nice roof and durable, plastic sides.
M+D Rabbitry is a very small rabbitry, and I want to keep it that way. I usually only keep around nine or so adult
bunnies, including Pepper at a time. This does not mean however that I do not have quality animals. I am working with the
best lines in my breeding program, and I can only keep the best, so there are usually bunnies for sale. I breed a maximum
of about three times a year.

Over the years I have bought and bred many bunnies in quite a few varieties of Mini Rex. I have decided to stick
with only the black and blue varieties. Blacks are beautiful, they work well with almost any color and my very favorite
(now retired) bunny Pepper is a black! Blues are my absolute favorite variety, I love the unique look and beautiful
rich color.
I take great pride in my rabbitry, my rabbits are given lots of attention and the best care. I have been very successful
with my rabbits in 4-H and open winning numerous BOB/BOSB and even Honorable Mentions and RIS' with them and Champions/Reserve
Champions for me. The last two years I did Fit & Show at Puyallup I have made it to the final table, I was up on the Fit
& Show table with the best of the best. Only a few people made it up there, no one I knew! I went away with an honorable
mention both years. Judging is most important to me, I have won 1st place, Champion, at Evergreen these last three years
and third twice, fourth, and fifth in the state over the years as well along with top oral reasons! Go
Snohomish County! I hope to keep doing well in the future. I never thought I would come this far and 4-H is definatley a great
hobby!
Aside from rabbits I have a dog, and two cats! I have a 4.0, and am a year ahead in math and science. I'm taking
honors classes, and I hope to go to WSU and become a veterinarian. I'm currently the secretary of Monroe Key Club, and I play
tennis for my school. I love animals and I want to spend my life helping them.
